Calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and Vitamin D are all essential to building healthy bones (2). They can all be found abundantly in Greek yogurt. The greek yogurt in this smoothie is responsible for the creamsicle consistency.
Walnuts are a wonderful source of healthy fats and antioxidants. Specifically, they are abundant in omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to modulate inflammation (R). Studies have proven they are an “optimal healthful food” due to their successfully protect cells from inflammation (3).

1/2 cup greek yogurt
1/4 cup walnuts
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp walnuts
1/4 cup ice
1 cup water
- Zest orange then segment, discarding peel
- In a high speed blender, combine orange zest, orange segments, greek yogurt, banana, vanilla extract, flaxseed, 1/4 cup ice and 1/4 cup water. Blend until smooth.
- Divide between 2 glasses.
